🚀 Balloon Rockets
Learn about thrust and motion with this high-speed experiment.
Materials: String, Drinking straw, Balloon, Tape.
- Tie one end of the string to a chair or doorknob.
- Thread the straw through the string.
- Tie the other end of the string to another point, making it tight.
- Inflate the balloon (don't tie it!) and hold the end.
- Tape the balloon to the straw.
- Let go and watch it zoom!
🌽 Dancing Popcorn
A chemical reaction that makes popcorn kernels hop and dance.
Materials: Tall jar, Water, Baking soda, Vinegar, Popcorn kernels.
- Fill the jar 3/4 with water.
- Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda and stir well.
- Add a handful of popcorn kernels.
- Slowly pour in vinegar and watch the "bubbles" carry the kernels up and down!
🎨 Pendulum Painting
Create amazing geometric art using physics.
Materials: Paper cup, String, Paint (thinned with water), Large paper.
- Poke three holes near the rim of a paper cup and tie strings to them to hang it.
- Poke a small hole in the bottom center of the cup.
- Hang the cup from a tripod or doorway over your paper.
- Cover the bottom hole with your finger, fill with paint, and give it a swing!
